DAVIDE MEDRI

Davide Medri is a creative with a strong artistic sensitivity. His design objects are unique for their style and their patient and rigorous hand-made composition. His experience in the interior design sector has led him over time to create fascinating works that play with reflections and reflecting, with shapes, sizes, colors, lines. In every element he entirely creates, the magic of light is found in its relationship with space and with the human being.

“It has always fascinated me to use the same tools as those used by the ancient Romans. An art that is renewed in form, but remains so ancient in method. To me, mosaic is the material, the preparing of the mortar, the cutting and the gluing of the marble tesserae. Light for me is energy, as if it represented the soul. That is why today I have replaced the marble with mirror, because in each piece the light is reflected and spread throughout the environment. If you look at the tiles directly, you see a part of your eyes, you recognise the pupil as the mirror of the human soul, meeting light: the element of God. I combine mosaic, light and sculpture, my creations play like a blurred border between art and design. I like to imagine my works as environmental installations. The light changes, as well as the reflection on the walls, and everything around the work. I am Davide Medri.”
